3rd Test, 1st Day: India 99-3 in reply to England's 112 all out at stumps

Ahemdabad: Team India puts all odds behind and scored 99 runs under lights in the final session of the first day of the third Test at the loss of 3 wickets. India is only short of 13 runs against England's first-inning score of 112 runs.
Resuming from 5-0 at dinner break and surviving a close call of shubhman gill caught by ben stokes which was overturned by the third umpire, India was overcautious at the start of the final session to see off the lethal pair of Broad and Anderson.
The first bowling change Jofra Archer scalped Indian opener gill as he delivered a catch to crawley in an attempt to pull. Cheteshwar Pujara who had an unbeaten record at Ahmedabad fell soon after without troubling the scorers.
Skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma consolidated Indian innings and played the natural game. Rohit Sharma brought his 50 in style and was unbeaten at 57 with 84 balls with 9 boundaries. The touring side had something to cheer about as Leach took the price wicket of Virat Kohli on 27.
Earlier, Joe Root's decision to bat backfired as England was bowled out for 112 inside two sessions despite Zak Crawley's fluent 53.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel claimed a career-best 6-38 while spin colleague Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets.
