Amit Shah unveils Arun Jaitley’s statue at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla ground

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday unveiled the six-foot-long statue of former senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president late Arun Jaitley at Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket ground here on his 68th birth anniversary.
Taking to twitter, he said “Arun Jaitley ji’s pioneering contribution in promoting cricket will never be forgotten. We will always miss him as an incredible person dedicated towards nation’s progress. My tributes to Arun ji on his jayanti.”
At the occasion, BCCI President and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, opener batsman Shikhar Dhawan, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, now a BJP MP from Delhi, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla and Union Minister Hardeep Puri attended the unveiling ceremony along with a number of DDCA officials.
Feroz Shah Kotla stadium has now been renamed as Arun Jaitley stadium after his death. The statue, installed inside the stadium, was prepared by famous sculpture artist Ram Sutar.
Mr Jaitley was president of DDCA for long 14 years from 1999 to 2003. Now his son Rohan Jaitley is heading the cricket body. (UNI)
