Athlete Hima Das clears Assam HSLC exam, secures first division

Guhawati: Athlete Hima Das, also known as Dhing Express, cleared her class 12th board exams and secured first division in the Assam HSLC examination result which was declared on Saturday. Hima appeared for her examination from the Dhing College in Arts stream and got 69.8 per cent in five subjects. 
Meanwhile, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam or SEBA released the Assam HSLC Result 2019 at 0900 hrs. This year, a total of 75.14 per cent students have cleared the Arts stream examination successfully and of the 17,797 students, 87.59 per cent have passed the Commerce examination. 
 
The pass percentage for 36,469 students who appeared for the Science examination is 86.59 per cent.Born and brought up in Kandhulimari village in Nagaon district of Assam, Hima became a star overnight after her performance in July 2018. 
 
In July 2018, Hima clinched the top spot in women's 400 m final race in the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships and became the first Indian woman athlete to win a gold medal at the world level.
 
Before Hima, no woman had won a gold medal in a World Championship at any level, be it youth, junior or senior.(UNI)
