Cook, Root help England take lead by 154 runs against India

London: Alastair Cook (46) and skipper Joe Root (29) helped England post 114/2 at stumps on day 3 of the final  Test in their second innings taking a lead of 154 runs against with 8 wickets remaining against India here at The Oval on Sunday.
Root 29 and Cook 46 were at stumps on day 3.     Cook scored 46 off 125 balls with 3 fours while Root 29 off 43 struck 5 fours.Earlier on day 3, India were all out for 292 in their first innings.

When England came to bat for their second innings it lost opener Keaton Jennings in the 13th over at score of 10 off 38 bowled by Mohammed Shami.
 
Cook and Jennings forged 27 runs for their first wicket partnership, but after departure of Jennings Moeen Ali was the next to go at 20 off 52 balls with 3 fours in 28th over after Jadeja scalped his wicket.
 
Then Cook and Ali went on stich a partnership of 35 runs for the second wicket, but after Ali's dismissal, skipper Root and Cook for their third wicket partnership scored half century 52.
For India Mohammed Shami gave India early breakthrough taking wicket of Jennings and then Jadeja dismissed  Moeen Ali.(UNI)
