Visakhapatnam: India's batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed his second Test century on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test against England here on Friday.

This was his maiden Test century in India, after missing out in the first Test in Hyderabad after scoring 80 in the first innings.

Jaiswal had cracked his first Test century (171) against West Indies in his debut Test last July.
The Mumbaikar smashed a six off Tom Hartley’s ball to complete his century.

Having reached his fifty just before Lunch in 89 balls, Jaiswal scored his next 49 runs in just 61 balls to get to his century.

With this, Jaiswal became the first Indian opener to score a century at home against England since Rohit Sharma in 2021. He also became the 15th Indian opener to do so.

Jaiswal joined an elite list of batsmen, including Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Murali Vijay to achieve the feat.

Jaiswal showed his aggression intent towards the lunch break when he smacked debutant Shoaib Bashir for a six and a four to get to his fifty.

England purchased two wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill to Bashir and James Anderson, but Jaiswal looked unperturbed.

In the post-lunch session, the young turk switched gears and tore into the England spinners, hitting Hartley for three successive boundaries as he raced into the 90s.

After getting the century, Jaiswal took off his helmet and acknowledged the applause from the spectators and his teammates from the dressing room.
