India wraps up the historic first in 2 days, defeats Afghan by innings and 262 runs

Bengaluru: India today massacred  test debutans Afghanistan by an innings and massive 262 runs to win the one-off historic test match on the second day played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.Opting to bat first India had amassed 474 in the first innings with Shikhar Dhawan (107) and Murali Vijay (105) smashing centuries.
The minnows disappointed in their challenge when they were bundled out for 109 in the first innings and when asked to follow on they could make just 103 in the second on a single day today.
 
After off spinner Ravichandran took 4 for 27 in the Afghanistan first innings, left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja ran through the middle order of the visitors claiming 4 for 17.  Umesh Yadav 3 for 26 and Ishant Sharma 2 for 17 completed the massacre of the lambs.Hashmattulah Shahidi remained not out on 36 to make the highest score for his team in this match.
 
Afghanistan had become the 12th test playing nation after ICC had accorded it the status in June 2017. (UNI)
