India vs WI Test: Thick security blanket to be thrown around Uppal stadium

Hyderabad: As many as 1,500 police personnel would be deployed to provide security for the second cricket test match between India Vs West Indies scheduled to be held at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal from October 12.
     
Addressing  a press conference here on Tuesday, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said elaborate security arrangements will be made for the Test Match with 519 law and order personnel, 150 from traffic wing and four  platoons from Armed Reserves would be deployed at the stadium.
      
Police from different wings including Octopus, mounted police, Special Branch and CCS would also be drafted to maintain law and order, the Commissioner said.
       
About 100 surveillance cameras have been installed in and around the stadium, which would be monitored by a team of policemen at a joint command and control room, he said special parties are deployed separately to meet with any contingency.
        
To control incidents of eve-teasing and keep a watch on the movement of the cheer girls, dedicated SHE teams/Anri Eve-Teasing teams will also be deployed, he informed.
        
"The stadium has a seating capacity of 38,000. Measures will be taken to avoid any untoward incidents during the match," he said.
        
The Police Commissioner said that bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs were also pressed into service, apart from a special team to check the movements of "anti-social elements."
       
Heavy goods vehicles from LB Nagar and Warangal routes shall not be allowed towards Habsiguda during the match timings, Mr Bhagwat said.(UNI)
