Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav dedicates Asia Cup win against Pakistan to Indian armed forces for Pahalgam teror victims

Chennai: After a stupendous win by seven wickets over arch-rivals Pakistan, Indian Skipper Suryakumar Yadav expressed his solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces in the wake of the Phalagam terror attack and dedicated the victory to them and said the team stood by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Speaking at the post-match presentation event and playing a key role in the win, scoring 47, including a winning shot of six on his birthday, he said "we stand by the victims of the families of Pahalagam terror attack".

"We express our solidarity and we want to dedicate today's win to the Indian Armed Forces", he said, while summing up his post-match reactions.

Pakistan batting first scored 127 for nine, recovering after losing two wickets in first two overs, and knocked off the target in 15.3 overs scoring 131 for three, with SKY playing a key part scoring 47 runs in 37 balls with five fours and a six--the winning shot--his highest score against Pakistan in T-20 format.

After being serenanded by the crowd for his birthday, SKY said its a great feeling to win and the win is a perfect return gift from him to India on his birthday.

On his winning six hit, he said it's a box he wanted to tick, to stay there till the end.

He said playing Pakistan is just another game, they come to the ground and prepare the same as any other opposition.

"India won the champions trophy with a lot of spinners and that was where it started", he said, adding, he was a big fan of spinners and likes picking them.

"Finally just as the presentation ends, without being prompted, he says "we stand with the victims of the families of the Pahalgam terror attack and we express our solidarity and we want to dedicate today's win to the armed forces", he said.
