New Delhi:India's women cricket team will play a one-off Test against England women later this year, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said on Monday.
"On the occasion of #InternationalWomensDay, I'm pleased to announce that #TeamIndia @BCCIWomen will play a one-off Test match against @ECB_cricket later this year. The women in blue will be donning the whites again," Jay Shah tweeted.

Notably, India last played a Test over six years ago, back in November 2014 when they took on South Africa Women. Mithali Raj-led side won that game by an innings.

Since that game, only three more Women's Test matches have been played, all between Australia and England.

Meanwhile, India and England last played a Test against each other in Wormsley in August 2014. Mithali Raj hit a 50 not out in that game which India won by six wickets. Overall, India and England have played 13 Tests against each other, with India winning two and England winning one.

The Indian women’s team returned to competitive international cricket for the first time in 364 days on 7 March when they lost to the Proteas in Lucknow. Before that ODI, India’s last international appearance was at the Women’s T20 World Cup Final against Australia.

Meanwhile, the India women's side is currently locking horns with South Africa in the three-match ODI series. In the first ODI, South Africa women's team thrashed India by eight wickets.
