Indian women Hockey star Lilima Minz retires at 27

New Delhi:Two-time Asian Games medallist Lilima Minz has decided to call time on her international career, Hockey India announced on Thursday.
The 27-year-old experienced midfielder, who made her debut for India at the four-nation women's tournament held in Argentina in 2011, was part of many glorious moments with the team.
Lilima, with a total of 12 goals in 156 matches under her belt, was a member of the Indian team that won bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games, silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games, and gold medal at the 2019 FIH Series Finals.
Hockey India congratulated Lilima for her outstanding contribution."Lilima has made a huge contribution to Indian hockey during her fantastic career and we cannot thank her enough for her efforts," said Gyanendro Ningombam, President of Hockey India.
"She has played a massive role in the growth of the Indian Women's Hockey Team in the last few years. Hockey India congratulates her on a wonderful career and wishes her all the very best for the next chapter of her life."Lilima also featured in the Indian side, which took the field at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
The team had qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 36 years. The midfielder was also part of the Indian team, which booked a place at the Tokyo Olympics through the FIH Olympic Qualifiers 2019.(UNI)
