Chennai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper M S Dhoni has said that he will continue to play in the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL) for one more year and hinted that his farewell game can be in Chennai.
Responding to a question from one of the fans during a virtual inter-action to mark the 75th year celebrations of India Cements Limited last night, Dhoni said “when it comes to farewell, you can come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game."
"So, you will get the opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, I will come to see Chennai and play my last game there and meet all the fans,” Dhoni, who had announced retirement from international cricket on August 15 said.
When a fan asked him as to why he chose that date (to announce his retirement from international cricket), Dhoni said ''it can't be a better day than that, August 15".
Dhoni's remarks has brought big cheers to the ardent fans of the Yellow Brigade Army as their iconic star has almost confirmed that he would be donning the yellow jersey at least for one more edition of the IPL and that they could watch him in action at Chepauk after 2019.
The 2022 edition is expected to get two new teams, taking the total number of franchisees to ten.
Speaking about the 75 year journey of India Cements, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director N Srinivasan said ever since the advent of CSK, India Cements has gone to another level.
"India Cements is a strong brand. But CSK out-beat it in no time. For that, we have to thank only one person--skipper M S Dhoni", he said.
CSK players Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir also participated in the virtual discussions. (UNI)
