Lack of consistency made difficult to seal spot in Team India: Manish Pandey

Centurion: Manish Pandey reckons that his inability to grab opportunities and perform consistently has made it difficult for him to cement a spot in Team India. With the visitors reeling at 90/4, it was Pandey's 79-run cameo, which helped India to reach a safe total in the second T20I of the three-match series against host South Africa on Wednesday night. The Karnataka batter was well supported by MS Dhoni, who also blasted 52 off just 28 deliveries, and lifted India to 188 in the allotted 20 overs.
Their (Pandey and Dhoni) scintillating show, however, went in vain as the Virat Kohli-led side lost the issue by six wickets and the hosts kept the series alive. When queried by mediapersons after the match, whether it was lack of opportunities or that he hasn't been able to make good use of the chances, Pandey said, "Sometimes, I feel that because I bat at No 5. (But) Most of the times I got chances at No 4, I delivered. But the batting combination sometimes pushes me down to No 5. I have tried my bit, but I feel that I can also probably do a little bit more with myself."(UNI)
