‘Made us proud’: PM Modi, Telanagan CM congratulate Nikhat Zareen for winning Gold at World Boxing Championships

Istanbul: India's Nikhat Zareen becomes world champion in 52kg weight category after thrashing Thailand's Jutamas Jitpong by unanimous decision (5-0), here.
Earlier, she registered a convincing 5-0 win over Brazil's Caroline De Almeida in the 52kg semi-final.
The Telangana boxer was playing her second World Championships.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his delight on Nikhat Zareen’s win. Nikhat hails from Nizamabad district of Telangana.
In a message, Rao congratulated Zareen for clinching Gold medal in the championship. He complemented Zareen for raising the Indian flag on International Sports platform.
The CM said it was proud moment that Nikhat clinched the world title in Boxing with the encouragement of state government. The government is motivating the sports persons on all aspects and already taking measures to set up Rural Sports Centre in all villages to create young sports persons in the state, the CM added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the young boxer. PM wrote, “Our boxers have made us proud! Congratulations to Nikhat Zareen for a fantastic gold medal win at the Women’s World Boxing Championship. I also congratulate Manisha Moun and Parveen Hoonda for their bronze medals in the same competition.” (Inputs from UNI)
