New Delhi: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar heaped praises on skipper Virat Kohli and power-hitter Rohit Sharma for their batting prowess and also bowlers for their fine bowling spell and said the present team is capable of winning the matches overseas also.
Gavaskar was speaking during the 26th Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Lecture in the national capital here on Saturday shared his thoughts on changing phase of Indian cricket.
Former batting great said, right from time of Lala Amarnath till date of Virat Kohli, Indian cricket future is very bright.
“Indian cricket is currently among the world's best with the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit who are hungry for runs and bowlers also playing their part in winning the matches. The current crop of Indian team also has the capability of winning the matches overseas,” he said.
Talking on Indian Premier League, Gavaskar said, the IPL has changed the course of Indian cricket, as players are eager to play with India.
Mentioning the names of captains Lala Amarnath, Ajit Wadekar, Kapil Dev, Dhoni and Virat Kohli Gavaskar said, they changed the phase of Indian cricket making the game no one sports in the country. (UNI)
