Renowned Boxer Nikhat Zareen plans to set up world standard Boxing Academy in Telangana

Hyderabad: Two-time world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen is planning to set up an International standard Boxing academy in Telangana.

A native of Nizamabad district (Telangana), the 29-year-old Nikhat has an illustrious career in boxing, having won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the Asian Games.

Talking to UNI on the sidelines of the announcing 14th edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2025 from August 23 to 24 here, Nikhat said “I want to have an Academy in Hyderabad to train the young talented players who want to make their career in boxing, make Telangana and India proud.”

To a question, Nikhat,who is currently working as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (Special Police) , said, “Once I meet Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, I will put my plans in front of him and we will discuss over setting up of the academy."

At least 8 to 10 acres of land is required for the academy because boxing academy needs to have a boxing hall, then some hostel rooms where athletes can stay and some high performance center, gym and swimming pool, track, she said.

So obviously we need some space to build a good international type of academy, she said.
When you are going to approach the Chief Minister to discuss about the academy, Nikhat said, “When I will come back with a medal at the World Championship ( to held at the Liverpool Arena in Liverpool, England from September 4 to 14, 2025), meet him and then I can put my plans in front of him”.

Nikhat was inducted into the Sports Authority of India in Visakhapatnam to train under Dronacharya awardee, IV Rao in 2009.

To another question, she said, “Currently I'm training in the national cab in Patiala. So the preparations for the world championships to be held in Liverpool, England from September 4 to 14, 2025, are going really well”.

“I'm pushing myself in every training session. So after a long break, now again I'm back in the national team”, the world champion said.

“Obviously, you know, it's a good feeling to represent India at the World Championship. And I'm looking forward to winning the medal at the World Championship and making the country proud, she confidently said.
