Dubai: India captain Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books by becoming the second fastest batsman to reach 11,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in terms of innings. He achieved the milestone in his 261st innings during the ongoing match against Bangladesh.
With this feat, Rohit trails only Virat Kohli, who reached the mark in 222 innings. He also outpaced legendary batsmen Sachin Tendulkar (276 innings), Sourav Ganguly (288), and Ricky Ponting (286).
Rohit became only the fourth Indian and the 10th player in the world to cross the 11,000-run mark in ODIs. The landmark moment came when he lofted a Mustafizur Rahman delivery over mid-on for four runs, despite the ball coming off the thick inside half of his bat.
