Pakistan's failure to get over the line led to widespread scrutiny and criticism of Azhar Ali from fans and former national cricketers after his ordinary performance with the bat and as a captain.
Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram called out Azhar for missing a few tricks while Ramiz Raja thought he was over-analysing things during the game. However, Sarfaraz backed Azhar's leadership and tweeted in his support on Monday.
"Bhayya stay strong (stay strong brother) in shaa allah we will bounce back Pakistan zindabad (by god's grace we will bounce back)," Sarfaraz tweeted alongside a picture with Azhar Ali.
Earlier, Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq also came out in support of Azhar Ali and even called Pakistan a "better side" than England. Inzamam said it was disappointing to see Pakistan lose from a winning position but backed his country to still win the series.(UNI)
