New Delhi: Shardul Thakur will replace injured Jasprit Bumrah in Indian ODI squad
against England beginning from July 12. Bumrah will not only miss India's ongoing Twenty20 International series against England, but also the one-day international leg of the tour after undergoing surgery on his fractured left thumb.
The pacer suffered the injury during India's first T20I against Ireland and sat out the next game. He was then ruled out of the T20I series, with the hope being that he would recover in time for the three-match ODI series.

But, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed in a statement on Friday, Bumrah will not be around for the ODIs either, and has returned to India."Bumrah underwent a surgery on July 4 in Leeds before returning to India. The surgery was successful and he will commence rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) statement further said."

Shardul Thakur, the 26-year-old paceman who has played three ODIs and seven T20Is, has been named as Bumrah's replacement for the ODIs. Deepak Chahar had slotted in for Bumrah in the T20I squad. The first ODI will be played at Trent Bridge on July 12.
