Tokyo Paralympics: Manish Narwal clinches gold, Adana bags silver in shooting

Tokyo:Shooters Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adana clinched gold and silver medal respectively for India in the men's P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 event at Tokyo Paralympics, here on Saturday.

The two shooters took the India's tally to 15 medals in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics.
The 19-year-old Narwal scored 218.2 in the final, a Paralympic record, to claim the gold metal.

Meanwhile, Adana, who had won the bronze in the P1 men's 10m air pistol SH1 event on Tuesday, added a silver to his kitty after he scored 216.7 in the final.

Russian Olympic Committee's Sergey Malyshev got the bronze with an score of 196.8.

Earlier, the two Indian shooters had a good show in the qualification round to reach the final. Adana progressed to the final in fourth place with a total of 536 while Narwal shot 533 to qualify at seventh.

Another Indian shooter, Akash failed to book the final berth as he finished 27th in the qualifying round.

:Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday announced a prize money of Rs 6 crore for Manish Narwal and Rs 4 crore for Singhraj Adhana for winning gold and silver medal respectively at the Tokyo Paralympics.

In addition to the cash reward, Khattar also promised a government job to both the winners.Hailing from Faridabad, Narwal and Adhana have brought glory not only to the district but the entire nation, he said.

As per its sports policy, the Haryana Government is giving awards, government jobs and other facilities to Paralympic players on a par with other sportspersons. He said that the sports policy of the State Government is being appreciated in the world and it is a matter of pride that the players of Haryana are bringing India's name on the world map.(UNI)
