The Karnataka High Court recently granted parole to a 28-year-old man convicted of murder after his wife filed a petition saying she wants to have children with her husband.
Kolar resident Anand was arrested in a murder case and the Kolar district sessions court awarded lifetime imprisonment to him in 2019. Later in 2023, the Karnataka High Court reduced the sentence to 10 years.
Before the murder, Anand was in a relationship with a woman, who approached the High Court in 2023 seeking parole for him to get married. The court accepted the petition and they got married in April last year.
The woman then approached the High Court stating she wanted to conceive a baby with her husband and sought parole for him.
The woman in her petition said she was deprived of her right to progeny and her mother-in-law suffers from various ailments and wishes to spend some time with her grandchildren.
Judge S R Krishna Kumar granted 30-day general parole to the Anand and asked him to appear before the jurisdictional police once weekly.
