In a bizarre incident, two brothers clashed with each other over performing the last rites of their deceased father in Madhya Pradesh. The dispute between the brothers took an unpleasant turn leaving the villagers and relatives shocked when decided to cut the father’s body in two parts to perform the rituals separately.
Dhyani Singh Ghosh, 85, died a natural in Tal Lidhora village in Tikamgarh district on Sunday.
Police said Damodar Singh, who had taken cared of his ailing father, was preparing for the cremation when Kishan Singh arrived with his family, insisting on performing the last rites himself.
This led to a heated argument between the two brothers. Then, Kishan proposed an extreme solution - cutting the father's body into two so that both brothers could conduct separate cremations. Despite requests from relatives and villagers, Kishan remained adamant.
While the body of the deceased was left unattended some villagers alerted the police.
Senior police officers and district administration rushed to the village upon learning about the incident and tried to pacify the two brothers.
When the brothers refused to relent, the officers after consultation with the family and villagers allowed Damodar to perform the last rites of their father in the presence of Kishan and his family under their supervision.
