A wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district turned chaotic after a dispute erupted over the bride’s pet dog barking at members of the groom. The altercation escalated into a violent clash, with chairs hurled from both sides, leaving several people injured. Following the incident, the bride called off the wedding.
The incident took place on February 19 in Khaga, Fatehpur, when a family from Prayagraj arrived for the ceremony. According to reports, the bride had brought along her pet dog. During the wedding rituals, the dog allegedly began barking at some members of the baraat. It is alleged that a young man from the groom’s side struck the dog with a stick, which escalated the situation. When members of the bride’s family objected, a heated argument broke out between the two sides.
Within minutes, the dispute turned violent at the guest house, with chairs being hurled and people attacking each other with sticks. In the clash, three people from the bride’s side — including a woman — and two from the groom’s side were injured and left bleeding. The ceremony was immediately halted.
Disturbed by the altercation and violence, the bride reportedly refused to proceed with the marriage. Police were informed and reached the spot to bring the situation under control.
The unusual incident has since become a major talking point in the area, as a dispute triggered by a barking pet ultimately led to the wedding being called off.
