A Class X student shot dead his former classmate near Satrod village in Hisar district of Haryana after alleged dispute over sitting on the front bench in the class.
The victim has been identified as Dixit of Mastnath Colony. His father is an ex-serviceman and now works as a guard at a godown of the Food Corporation of India.
Dixit reportedly had a dispute with his classmate over sitting on the front bench in the class around a year ago. Following the incident, his classmate’s family pressured Dixit’s parents to change his school. However, they refused, citing CBSE registration rules. Then, the other family decided to transfer their son to a different school.
The victim’s family alleged that since then, the student had been repeatedly threatening to kill Dixit.
On Thursday morning, when Dixit went to buy milk from a nearby dairy on his scooter, the accused classmate called him, and Dixit (on his scooter) and his classmate on a motorcycle rode together to the far end of the loading point near the Satrod railway station.
They engaged in a verbal duel that escalated into a physical altercation. In a fit of rage, the accused pulled out a gun from the bag on his motorcycle. He first fired a shot into the air, and then he fired a second shot, hitting Dixit in the lower back.
Hearing the sound of gunfire, a nearby elderly woman rushed to the spot and called out for help. Meanwhile, Dixit's phone, which was in his pocket, started ringing. The woman received the call, which was from his mother. She informed her of the situation, prompting the family to rush to the scene.
Dixit was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Later, a team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and forensic science experts visited the spot and took samples.
Vinod Kumar, SHO, GRP, said blood samples taken from the spot had been sent for forensic examination. “The deceased’s slipper and scooter have also been recovered from the spot. The crime occurred in a bushy area where there are no CCTV cameras,” he added.
