A real estate dealer, who was battling cancer, shot his wife dead and then committed suicide in Ghaziabad. The victim, identified as Kuldeep Tyagi (46) left a suicide note that said he did not want money to be wasted on his treatment because recovery is uncertain. The note said he had killed his wife because they had vowed to stay together.
According to police, Kuldip first shot his wife with his licenced revolver and then turned the gun on himself at his home in Radha Kunj society of Raj Nagar Extension around 11 am on Wednesday.
Kuldip's elderly father and two children were at home at the time of the incident and rushed to the bedroom on hearing the gunshots. Kuldeep's body was found on the floor and his wife body was on the bed. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead, the police added.
A suicide note was found in the room, that read: "I am suffering from cancer, and my family is unaware of it. I don't want money to be wasted on my treatment because survival is uncertain. I am taking my wife along because we vowed to stay together forever. This is my decision. No one, especially my children, is to blame."
Police seized the pistol and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Senior police officer Poonam Mishra said that based on the suicide note, it appeared to be a case of murder followed by suicide.
Further investigation and legal proceedings were underway, she added.
