A Booth Level Officer (BLO) conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Tavanur, north Kerala, has been removed from duty after he exposed himself in public while filling out voter enumeration forms.
The district administration confirmed that a show-cause notice was issued to the officer on Tuesday.
“Another BLO has been assigned to complete the SIR process,” a district official said.
In the visuals aired on TV, the officer is seen abruptly standing and lifting his mundu (dhoti) in front of a person recording the video. The act took place while he was surrounded by local residents, including women, during the voter enumeration process.
According to locals, the BLO reacted aggressively when he was confronted why elderly people were being made to stand in the sun for long hours, while the directions are to visit the homes. The BLO, irritated by the questioning and by locals recording the incident, lifted his mundu in an inappropriate way in front of the crowd.
