A video of an intense face-off between two lions and two dogs in Gujarat's Amreli is going viral on social media. With only a gate separating them, the animals clashed for almost a minute.
The incident reportedly took place in Savarkundla, which is around 76 km from the Gir National Park, which is the only habitat of the Asiatic lion in India.
The wildlife encounter was recorded on CCTV. The video begins with a lion approaching a gate from outside, only to be confronted by a dog on the other side. The two clash for a few seconds when another dog enters the scene. Suddenly, another lion stormed into the scene, slamming the gate repeatedly.
In a final aggressive move by one of the lions, the gate breaks open and the dogs back off. However, the big cats abruptly disappeared into a nearby bush, likely after sensing movement on the other side of the gate.
Then, one of the dogs bravely ventured outside after the lions had left while a man, purportedly the security guard, followed it with a torch. The man inspected the area before locking the gate again.
One of the dogs then returns and steps outside, accompanied by a security guard holding a torchlight. The guard steps outside a side gate to assess the situation and locked the gate again.
