Communal clashes broke out in Mhow town in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, after a rally celebrating India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory was allegedly pelted with stones.
The incident occurred near the Jama Masjid area, where a group of individuals hurled stones at the rally participants, prompting them to flee the scene.
The clashes quickly escalated, with rioting reported in several areas, including Rajesh Mohalla, Market Chowk, Manek Chowk, and Sewa Marg. Two vehicles were set on fire, and several people were injured. However, the police were able to bring the situation under control using tear gas and lathi-charge.
District Collector Asheesh Singh has appealed for calm, assuring that strict action will be taken against those involved in the clashes. He also urged people not to pay attention to fake news and to maintain patience.
The incident is currently under investigation, with additional forces deployed to maintain law and order in the area.
