The Kerala High Court has directed the police to take action against a person accused of plucking hair from his private parts and putting it in Thulasithara.

Thulasithara is a sacred platform typically found in traditional Hindu homes, especially in Kerala. It's specifically designed to hold a Tulsi plant, which is considered a sacred plant in Hinduism.

As per a report by LiveLaw.in, the Kerala HC passed the above order while hearing a bail plea filed by Sreeraj who was arrested for uploading the video of Abdul Hakkim insulting the Thulasithara in his Facebook and Instagram account.

A case was registered against Sreeraj by stating that Abdul Hakkim is a mentally ill person and he uploaded the video to promote religious enmity.

The court observed, “Thulasithara is considered a sacred place in Hindu religion. In the video, it can be seen that Abdul Hakkim plucked hairs from his private part and put it in the Thulasithara. This act will definitely infringe the sentiments of Hindu religions. It seems that, no case is registered against Abdul Hakkim.”

The Court also questioned Hakkim’s mental health claims, highlighting that he owns a hotel near the Guruvayoor Temple and holds a valid driving license.

“From the facts it is not clear whether he is a mental patient. Even if he is a mental patient, how he is continuing as the licensee of a hotel within the premises of Guruvayoor Temple. Furthermore, if he possesses a driving licence, the investigating officer must also examine how a mentally ill person is permitted to drive,” the court further said.

Accordingly, the High Court granted bail to Sreeraj while instructing the police to take appropriate action against Hakkim in accordance with the law.
