In a heart-wrenching twist to a viral story of hope, a 45-year-old teacher and farmer from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, who publicly expressed his longing for a life partner, was brutally murdered after being tricked into marriage by a woman.

On June 6, the body Indrakumar Tiwari, a resident of Padwar (Khitola) village in Jabalpur, was found dumped along National Highway-28 in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, with a knife lodged in his neck.

Indrakumar had become a symbol of simple hope after he emotionally told spiritual leader Aniruddhacharya Maharaj during a satsang: “Guruji, I have 18 acres of land, but no wife to share life with.”

His innocent appeal touched many online. But the viral fame also drew the attention of those with sinister intentions.

Soon after the video went viral, Indrakumar was contacted online by a woman claiming to be Khushi Tiwari. She was, in fact, Sahiba Bano, who used a fake identity and Aadhaar card to pose as a Hindu bride. Indrakumar agreed to marry ‘Khushi’ and she organised a fake marriage on June 5 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh with the help of her companions.

Additional SP Suryakant Sharma said Ajay Tiwari of Padwar village filed a missing report of Indrakumar on June 8. Ajay said Indrakumar had left home on June 2. They had last spoken to him on his wedding day on June 5. There has been no contact since then. His mobile is also switched off.

Police swiftly arrested Sahiba Bano and recovered a fake Aadhaar card in the name of Khushi Tiwari. Several of her accomplices are still absconding. Authorities believe this was a pre-planned honeytrap, with the viral video acting as the bait.

An inter-state operation between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh police was crucial in cracking the case.

Indrakumar’s death has left his native Jabalpur village stunned. Locals remember him as a humble, hardworking man who simply wanted companionship. Social media, which had once amplified his innocent plea, is now flooded with condolences and outrage.
