‘Power of yoga’: Anand Mahindra lauds 125-year-old Padma Shri recipient Yoga guru Swami Sivananda

The video of 125-year-old yoga guru Swami Sivananda receiving the Padma Shri award from President Ram Nath Kovind has been winning applause from the netizens. Walking bare feet in the palatial Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Sivananda walked up to the Prime Minister and the President and prostrated before them before accepting the award. Not only, netizens applauded him for his humility and they were also awestruck by the yoga guru’s health.

Mahindra Group Chairman took to Twitter and wrote: “The power of yoga. A life spanning 125 years of dedication! The grace and dignity of Swami Sivananda are both humbling & inspiring. Proud to belong to the country of Yoga’s origin.”

On Monday, the President of India conferred the Padma Shri to Swami Sivananda for yoga and dedicating his life to human welfare. The super-centenarian has been serving leprosy-affected people in Puri, Odisha for over five decades.
