The mother of the infant, whose miraculous rescue video went viral few weeks ago, reportedly died by suicide as she was highly depressed by the criticism over her alleged negligence.
The eight-month-old, apparently fell from fourth floor while her mother was nursing her on the balcony and landed on the sunshade roof of the second-floor.
The viral three-minute video shows the baby sitting on her hands and knees near the edge of the roof cover on the second floor of a building. The neighbours formed a human pyramid and one of them at the top caught the toddler to safety. There was a loud round of applause when the man snatched the baby from the jaws of death.
The people of the society were also seen holding a bedsheet open on the ground floor to catch the baby incase she falls.
Social media praised the residents for rescuing the infant, while the mother, Ramya was severely shamed for her "carelessness" in taking care of the child.
Following the incident, she alongwith her husband and kids came to her parents' house in Coimbatore. She was also reportedly undergoing treatment for depression.
On Sunday, Ramya was found unconscious in the house and was rushed to hospital where she was declared dead.
