A simple reminder from a vigilant Mumbai traffic constable turned out to be life-saving for a couple who met with a serious accident shortly afterward.
Constable Pravin Kshirsagar was on duty at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Saturday when he stopped a car and noticed the passenger—Gautam Rohra’s wife—wasn’t wearing her seatbelt. He politely asked her to buckle up. She complied immediately, unaware that the next few minutes would test that small decision.
Barely 15 minutes later, as the couple drove towards Andheri amid heavy rainfall, their car skidded on a slope, flipped twice, and crashed badly. Thanks to their seatbelts, both survived with only minor injuries.
Grateful for the narrow escape, the couple later visited the BKC traffic outpost to personally thank Constable Kshirsagar.
Gautam Rohra also took to social media to share the incident, praising the Mumbai traffic police for their timely intervention.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti lauded the constable’s presence of mind on social media:
“Proud of PC Pravin Kshirsagar’s timely intervention, his small yet crucial reminder helped save a life,” Bharti wrote.
“This accident is yet another stark reminder of how something as simple as wearing a seatbelt can mean the difference between life and death!” he added.
The Mumbai Traffic Police echoed the sentiment in a post on X:
We Don’t Just Fine, We Also Ensure You Remain Fine! All it took was a seatbelt and PC Pravin Kshirsagar’s small advice to save a life from a horrific accident.”
