When someone told Eshan Sharma that his is the age of doing studies and read books written by great men, he laughed it off and went on to write his own book! At the age of sixteen, he is already the youngest biographical writer in India and the book he has written is about none other than former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam!
This all began in IIT Kanpur, where Eshan studies. One day there he saw Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and immediately felt that he has got a role model. But to get a role model is one thing and to end up write a whole lot of book on him is different. However, it wasn’t without obvious reasons. As Eshan himself says that the seeds of writing were sown in his mind by his grandfather Babulal Sharma, who used to write verses in Urdu. His father Rajesh Sharma and mother Seema also work in IIT Kanpur, so you can see his background.
When Eshan was 10, he wrote a long poem on his grandmother and that was the beginning of his writing journey. However, the recent events in JNU and Ramjas College, where students were marching in the search of ‘Nationalism’, prompted him to write this book, which is his own interpretation of nationalism in the narrative form of a biographical account.
In an age when boys write romance and fantasy, Eshan surprises everyone with his book, “The Teacher I Never Met”. The book focuses on an 11 year boy who started exploring Kalam and at the age of 16 penned down his emotions, Kalam’s lessons and a teacher who the boy never met. This is an extraordinary adventure of a boy named Eshan, who becomes invisible and goes out to an adventure in Kalam’s childhood till his last breath at IIM Shillong in 2015.
How a small village boy, named Kalam explored his inner capabilities and talent, found his way from the small streets of villages to the Rashtrapati Bhawan and then switching back to educate India about what is Life? How can we achieve whatever we want? What is the mantra for success? How can we as children of this country help in Nation Building? The book tells you all and does it with a fair amount of eloquence.
An avid reader since childhood, Eshan passed class 10th in 2015 from Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT Kanpur with flying colors and currently he is in class 12th with Humanities stream in Delhi Public School, Kalyanpur, Kanpur. A blogger, writer, poet, who can write in both English and Hindi and who has already written many essays and articles for many competitions. He is also a good painter and he is continually winning prizes in GK Quiz organized in IIT Kanpur. He also got Akhil Bharatiya Rashtrabhasha Vibhushan award for encouraging Hindi language.
