Films such as Vanvaas are made once in 20 years: Anil Sharma

Indian movie director Anil Sharma says films such as Vanvaas, which dwells on the relationship between parents and their children, come once in 20 years."The relationship between parents and children remains the same. Films like Vanvaas come once in 20 years. In the last 15-20 years, no such film has been made. The new generation has not seen such films," Sharma said in an interview to UNIVARTA.

Sharma's film Vanvaas, featuring stars like Nana Patekar, Utkarsh Sharma and Simrat Kaur, was recently released.Sharma said he intended to make a film that would have resonance with the new generation and focus on the significance of the bond between parents and their children."I have made films like Shraddhanjali and Bandhan Kachche Dhaagon Ka, which are complete family dramas. After that, I made Apne, which was a family drama. Now, I have made Vanvaas, which is again a family drama."

He described as “overwhelming” the people’s response to the film and said he saw the audience could relate to the story.Sharma, one of the acclaimed present generation Bollywood directors, has in his repertoire hit films like Hukumat, Tahalka, Elaan-E-Jung, Farishtey, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, and Gadar 2.On why he opted for Nana Patekar in the lead role in Vanvaas, Sharma replied that he had faith in the actor’s experience and talent and his image as an action hero never seemed an impediment to him. “I believe that an actor’s performance should speak for itself”.
