New Delhi: Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor at the 2025 International Emmy Awards.

The nomination is for his acclaimed portrayal of the late Punjabi folk icon Amar Singh Chamkila in the Netflix biopic, which was directed by Imtiaz Ali.

The film itself has also received a major nomination in the Best TV Movie / Mini-Series category, signifying a significant moment for Indian content globally.

Released in April 2024, the biopic traces the dramatic life and legacy of Chamkila, who achieved massive fame in the 1980s before his tragic assassination.

Dosanjh reacted to the nomination with humility and gratitude on Instagram. He credited the recognition entirely to Imtiaz Ali’s vision, saying, "All because of Imtiaz Ali sir," and thanked his fans for their unwavering support.

In turn, director Imtiaz Ali praised Dosanjh's dedication, stating the actor deserved to be celebrated "twice over" for both his performance and his contribution to the project.

Dosanjh will compete against three other acclaimed talents. The Best Actor nominees include David Mitchell for 'Ludwig,' Oriol Pla for 'Yo, Adicto (I, Addict),' and Diego Vasquez for 'One Hundred Years of Solitude.'
