Filmmakers to incur only 50 pc cost if Goa is the shooting location

Panaji:The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) today announced the new Goa Film Finance Scheme 2016, which will provide grants up to 50 percent of cost of production to filmmakers from Goa.The scheme will be effective for both feature and non-feature film category from the date of notification and the films released since 2011 and which had not received any government support/funding would be eligible for financial support under the scheme.

ESG vice-chairman Rajendra Talak said that the scheme will be applicable for feature films and non-feature films to all the film producers from Goa.Feature films in Konkani and Marathi and non-feature films in Konkani, Marathi, English and Hindi in Goa are eligible for grants from the government.

For a feature film, a grant of Rs 50 Lakh for "A" category; grant of Rs 30 Lakh for "B" category and grant of Rs 10 Lakh for "C" category or 50 per cent of the total expenditure as per the audited statement, whichever is less will be given.Similarly, for non-feature film, a grant of Rs 10 Lakh for "A" category; Rs 5 Lakh for "B" category and Rs 3 Lakh for "C" category or 50 per cent of the total expenditure as per the audited statement, whichever is less will be granted.

Films which are not coming under A, B and C category will not be entitled for any grants, Mr Talak said.Besides this, the filmmaker will get additional assistance if the feature film wins the National Award for the Best Film in regional category and Rs 25 lakh if the film wins an award in any other Best Film category.

Also Rs 30 lakh will be awarded to any Goan film if it wins the Golden Lotus Award at the National Film Awards or any International Award at the film festival recognised by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).In the non-feature films, Rs five lakh will be given if the film wins a national award and Rs 7.50 lakh for the non-feature film winning an award at the International Film Festival recognized by FIAPF.

For feature film Rs five lakh will be given to the director wining a National Award or International Award at FIAPF recognized film festival, while, in the non-feature film, Rs two lakh will be given for the director winning a National Award or International Award at FIAPF recognzied film festival.

A special award of Rs one crore will be given if a feature film made by Goan producer wins Oscar Award under any category.Besides this, Mr Talak said that individual cash awards will be given to artistes/technicians in any individual category,winning National Award or International Award at FIAPF recognized International Film Festival subject to a maximum aid for two festivals only.(UNI)
