Mumbai: Actor Ajay Devgn, who is currently busy in promoting his upcoming crime drama film 'Raid', says he did not choose 'Raid' but it came instantly.Talking to UNI, Ajay -- who was in the capital along with her co-star Ileana D' Cruz to promote 'Raid' -- said, 'I did not choose 'Raid'. It came instantly. I heard the character and thought that we should really make films on something like this.''We make biopics, but there are people in the country who are serving and ready to give their lives for honesty and to what extent they can go. People don't know about them. And this incident was very gripping so we decided to make a movie,' he said.
Asked about the inputs he puts in a movie as an actor, Ajay said, 'Filmmaking is a team work. When you start doing films a lot of things come to your mind, maybe right or wrong. We discuss them, some agrees some not, so whoever convinces who. So there is no percentage of how much inputs who has put.'
On asking his experience of working with Ileana and Saurabh Shukla, the 'Singham' actor said, 'Ileana is very comfortable to work with and with Saurabh, I had so many scenes that I loved doing them.'Talking about censor boards and the controversies, Ajay said, 'censor board is the final authority and above that is court. So I don't think so anybody has the right to stop the film.'
Actors are getting threatened these days, when asked if it affects art and creativity, Ajay said,'It's just so wrong.India is a democratic country. It is not just creativity affected, but according to human right also it is wrong. You can't just get up and threaten anyone like that. It is also legally wrong. It's stupid.'On actors getting trolled on social media, Ajay said,'That is something you can't do anything about.
Social media is something where everybody has an opinion. But if you mind your own business and be what you are, then I don't think so you will be trolled on social media. This is my experience.'Whether box-office numbers affects him, the 'Drishyam' fame actor said,'All of us wants that the film does well. So it is the appreciation that you want. In filmmaking money is involved, and if money is there you want your film to do well and get the returns back.'
If failures at box-office affects his choice of films, Ajay said, 'You do tend to think about that also. But not every film you will do will be a box office number.'Whether he will always do performance based movies, the 'Rajneeti' fame actor said,'I am doing every kind of film, and every film is performance based. 'Golmaal' was also performance. It's not easy to make people laugh. So I don't know how to differentiate between performance films or non-performance films.'
Asked if it is right to hold superstar responsible for the failure of a movie at the box office, the 48-years-old actor said,'No not at all. It's the script, the director and the whole team. Somewhere people expect stars to make right choices, and the actors do make mistakes by choosing wrong films.'If he wants to do any socially relevant movie in future, Ajay said,'You dont' do films with a topic on mind.
You just hear things and say this is a nice issue.''Raid' is an upcoming crime drama film written by Ritesh Shah and directed by Raj Kumar Gupta.
