Actress Katrina Kaif on Tuesday visited the famed Kukke Subrahmanya Temple in Dakshina Kannada district, where she participated in the sacred Sarpa Samskara ritual.Dressed modestly in a traditional outfit, the actress was seen wearing a mask and covering her head with a dupatta while offering prayers and performing temple rituals.
The 5,000-year-old temple, dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya, is renowned for rituals aimed at alleviating naga dosha (serpent-related afflictions), believed to cause obstacles in marriage and childbirth.
Kaif’s visit comes amid a growing trend of Hindi film stars exploring Karnataka’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Last week, actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut visited several temples in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada, including the Kapu Mariamma Temple and the Kateelu Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple.
The film star's spiritual engagements have drawn attention in recent months. Last month, Katrina took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, accompanied by her mother-in-law, Veena Kaushal. During the visit, she engaged in rituals and interacted with Swami Chidanand Saraswati, president of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati.
The actress is expected to complete the special rituals on Wednesday before returning to Mumbai. It remains unclear whether she will visit other temples in the region during this trip. In July 2024, she had visited the Koragajja Temple in Mangaluru, accompanied by cricketer KL Rahul and film star Suniel Shetty’s family. (UNI)
