‘Ms Marvel’ to ‘Doctor Strange’, Disney+ Hotstar brings exciting list this June

New Delhi: Disney+ Hotstar is entering Pride month with Marc Bruni’s directorial ‘Trevor: The Musical’, a film following the story of a 13-year-old on a turbulent journey of self-discovery.
Along with this, Disney+ Hotstar has also lined-up many more exciting titles for June. If you are a fan of Marvel, the wait is over as ‘Ms Marvel’, the first Marvel Studios product that explores South Asian cultures, will be on your screens starting June 8 and Benedict Cumberbatch starrer ‘Doctor Strange’ is back pushing boundaries by unlocking the multiverse.
From new originals to romantic comedy and sci-fi action titles; there's a lot to look forward to this month. The first week of June will see the arrival of several new shows and films, including the return of ‘Baymax’ to the fantastical city of San Fransokyo to help everyone and Hotstar Specials’, thriller romance series Aashiqana.
Here’s a list of what else is exciting on Disney+ Hotstar this June:
Ms Marvel (June 8)
Marvel Studios’ ‘Ms Marvel’ is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (June 22)
In Marvel Studios’ ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
Trevor The Musical (June 24)
‘Trevor:The Musical’, produced by RadicalMedia, follows a charming 13-year-old on a turbulent journey of self-discovery. After an embarrassing incident at school, Trevor must summon the courage to forge his own path. The musical is based on the 1995 Academy Award-winning short film “Trevor” which ultimately inspired the nonprofit organization The Trevor Project; the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.
Hollywood Stargirl (June 3)
‘Hollywood Stargirl’ is a sequel to the 2020 Disney+ hit about free spirit Stargirl Caraway, a silver-voiced teenager whose simple acts of kindness work magic in the lives of others, that follows Stargirl’s journey out of Mica, Arizona and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibilities. When her mother Ana is hired as the costume designer on a movie, they relocate to L.A., where Stargirl quickly becomes involved with an eclectic assortment of characters. They include aspiring filmmaking brothers Evan and Terrell; Mr. Mitchell, one of Stargirl’s neighbours; and Roxanne Martel, a musician Stargirl admires and encounters on her journey.
The next is Family Reboot (June 15): ‘Family Reboot’ follows families that have become so busy with their individual lives, whether it’s from a busy job, going back to school, after school activities, keeping up with social media, sports or running a business, that they have lost touch with one another.
Baymax (June 29)
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ ‘Baymax’ returns to the fantastical city of San Fransokyo where the affable, inflatable, inimitable healthcare companion, Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), sets out to do what he was programmed to do: help others.
Aashiqana (June 6)
Based in Mumbai, the show revolves around two families – Chauhans and Sharmas, both of whom have been inflicted by the untimely death of a beloved member. The mystery surrounding their deaths affects life in the present and continues to haunt the lives of Yash Chauhan and Chikki Sharma. While Yash is a crime-fighting police officer who grew up in a family of cops, Chikki wants to become a cop like her father but has failed the exam twice. Mysterious deaths and suicides surround both their lives to finally make their lives cross paths under the shadow of a murderer.

After his twin sister went missing eighteen years ago, the emotional link between Eun Gye-hoon and his sister was disconnected. He leaves behind his painful past and grows to become a famous chef. One day, Gye-hoon begins to sense emotions of another presence again. He heads to Jihwa-dong, where his sister had gone missing. There he meets Noh Da-hyun. What is the reason for their emotional link? What secrets lie in the suspicious neighbourhood of Jihwa-dong? This human mystery drama and fantasy romance follow a man's journey of healing and his experiences in connection with a strange woman.
Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to lightyear (June 10)
To tie in with the release of the upcoming Pixar film, “Lightyear”, Disney has announced that a special behind the scenes documentary on making the film is coming to Disney+ on June 10th 2022. This documentary will explore the evolution of Buzz Lightyear from toy to human in the making of Pixar’s Lightyear. Dive into the origin and cultural impact of everyone’s favorite Space Ranger, the art of designing a new “human Buzz,” and the challenges faced by the Lightyear crew along the way.
Only Murders In The Building S2
Following the shocking death of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger, Charles, Oliver and Mabel race to unmask her killer. However, three (unfortunate) complications ensue- the trio is publically implicated in Bunny’s homicide, they are now the subjects of a competing podcast and they have to deal with a bunch of New York neighbours, who all think they committed murders.
Irma Vep (June 7)
Mira (Alicia Vikander) is an American movie star disillusioned by her career and a recent breakup, who comes to France to star as "Irma Vep" in a remake of the French silent film classic, Les Vampires. Set against the backdrop of a lurid crime thriller, Mira struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge. Irma Vep reveals to us the uncertain ground that lies at the border of fiction and reality, artifice and authenticity, art and life.
The Chi: Season 5 (June 26)
This season Black love takes centre stage. Emmett and Tiff forge a new path in their relationship as Tiff grows closer to Rob. Meanwhile, Kevin finds love where he least expects it as Jake and Jemma navigate life as a couple. With his boys in relationships, Papa finds himself a bit on the outside looking in, but still knows how to get himself in trouble. Kiesha cares for baby Ronnie as Nina and Dre work together to support Lynae. Jada assesses her life post-cancer and Trig considers a political run, even as Douda plots a comeback. (UNI)
