Cops record statement of Rhea Chakraborty in SSR's suicide (Pics)

Mumbai: Police questioned the friends of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who allegedly hanged himself to death at his home in western suburb of Bandra on Sunday.The last rites of the actor were performed on Monday.

The investigation proceeding started with the close friend of Sushant and Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty. After a 11 hour grilling by Mumbai Police at Bandra Station Rhea's statement was recorded in this case.

According to the sources Rhea Chakraborty was the live in partner of Sushant Singh Rajput and left the house after verbal voes with the late actor. One of the most gorgeous actresses of the film industry, Rhea Chakraborty featured and won a popular reality show "Teen Diva" aired on MTV 10 years ago.

After winning the show Rhea quickly started her career as a Video Jockey. She made a debut in Bollywood in the same year with a quirky comedy movie "Mere Dad Ki Maruti". Since then she had featured in Sonali Cable, Jalebi, Bank Chor, and also did a guest appearance in "Half Girlfriend".

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe told mediapersons that police have started a probe into the suicide by the actor from various angles.An autopsy was conducted on his body at the Dr  R N Cooper Municipal General Hospital, the report of which was received on monday."The provisional post-mortem report has cited asphyxia as the cause of the actor's death," DCP Trimukhe said while ruling out any possibility of a foul play.

Besides, Rhea Chakravarty Mumbai Police also questioned Mahesh Shetty, and some more persons are likely to be queried, sources said."As we are all deeply pained and shocked to hear about Sushant's untimely demise? So is Mahesh Shetty.

He has lost a brother, a very dear friend and is still coming to terms with the shock and reality and is completely heartbroken. We, his team, request the media and all of you, on his behalf, to please give him some privacy and let him grieve for his loss," said Shetty's team in a social media post.

As part of the probe, separate teams from the Bandra police station, the Crime Branch-CID and the Forensic Department visited the actor's Bandra flat.On Monday morning, Sushant's father and his family reached Mumbai from Patna, visited his home in Bandra and later claimed his body.It was subsequently taken for the funeral ceremonies to the Vile Parle crematorium amidst heavy rains with a large number of mediapersons, police and a few fans present.(UNI)
