Mirzapur: Amidst protests against Amazon Prime web-series Mirzapur 2, local MP and former Union Minister Anupriya Patel has objected to the series by tweeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Apna Dal chief Anupriya has demanded that there should be an investigation into the matter stating that the story defames her constituency Mirzapur. Now, Mirzapur MLA Ratnakar Mishra has also come forward and demanded a stop to it.
Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council Chairman Raju Srivastava has also not liked the web-series. He will raise his objection to the violence and nudity in the web-series with Mr Adityanath.
Mr Srivastava said that such kinds of series have more traction amongst young people and students. Violence affects their minds. The web-series should also require censor board approval.
After the release of Mirzapur 2 on Amazon Prime, protests are being held over the 'negative image' of the district. Following MP Anupriya Patel's tweet, the matter has heated up.
The MP said that Mirzapur is developing. It is the centre of harmony and is being maligned as a violent area through the web-series. Disharmony is being spread through it.
Local MLA Ratnakar Mishra said that the image of Mirzapur district has been presented in a wrong manner in the series. It is a spiritual and historic district. The image of this district, which has a lot of potential in the field of tourism, is being damaged. It must be stopped.
Intellectuals and social activists have also lodged their protest against the web-series Mirzapur 2, which has become quite popular. A letter has been sent to the PM and the Chief Minister through the District Magistrate.(UNI)
