Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress president and Bollywood actor Raj Babbar is all set to introduce his actress daughter Juhi Babbar in politics very soon. She could also contest the upcoming state Assembly elections from his old parliamentary constituency Agra.
Though there is no official confirmation about her contesting election but party leaders here confirmed that the posibilities cannot be ruled out. Party (congress) sources here today said Ms Juhi could be a potential candidate for the party, which is trying to end its 27 year exile in UP politics.
She (Juhi), had already made her inroads in politics when she had campaigned for her father for Ferozabad Lok Sabha bypolls in 2009, when Mr Babbar defeated Dimple Yadav. The plan to field Ms Juhi from Agra south is aimed at Muslim vote polarisation as her mother's Muslim background will benefit the Congress party. Her mother Nadira Babbar, is likely to campaign for her daughter to attract Muslim and women votes.
Congress is also aiming at 20,000 Sindhi and Punjabi votes on the basis of Mr Babbar's personal connections. Ms Juhi had worked in several Hindi and Punjabi films. She has been closely associated with the theatre and had worked with her mother in various theatre productions. She is married to television actor Anup Soni. (UNI)
