Salma Aga ridicules Triple Talaq; terms demonetisation a bold step

Lucknow: Bollywood yesteryear star and 'Nikah' fame Salma Aga today lambasted the leaders and the clerics who are supporting Triple Talaq. "Triple Talaq is against Islam and there is no mention of it in the holy Quran. Such Talaq is a harassment for the women," she said. Salma, who had made her Bollywood debut with the film 'Nikah' based on Triple Talaq, said, 'the system is anti-women.
 

She also questioned the legality of male Muslims marrying several times. "We support PM Narendra Modi for raking up the triple talaq issue," she said, adding that Modi was among the best Indian Prime Ministers. She also appreciated Modi for his bold move of demonetisation, The actor was in Lucknow to support the Republican Party of India (Athawale faction) in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. Talking to reporters, Salma, who was all praise for BJP and Mr Modi, went to the extent of saying, "demonetisation is like a women experiencing labour pain and after delivery, a mother always thinks of a healthy child.

We also hope that like a healthy child, Indian economy too turns healthy with eradication of corruption and black money after such pain." Salma, who would be campaigning widely in UP polls along with other Bollywood stars like Rakhi Sawant, Ali Khan and Hemant Birje for RPI, said Mr Modi was concerned for women empowerment and has done several things for their rights.
