Samay Raina announces comeback with stand-up nationwide tour after joke controversy

New Delhi: Comedian Samay Raina is set to return in the public domain with a stand-up comedy tour across India after controversy kicked off during his YouTube show India’s Got Latent over YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s perceived derogatory joke.

With a nationwide tour titled “Still Alive and Unfiltered” starting on August 15 is coinciding with Indian Independence Day.

The tour will start from Bengaluru, the tour runs through October 5, spanning major cities including Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, and Delhi-NC? Tickets are available now via BookMyShow.

This marks Samay’s first public return since the fallout from a controversial joke made on the last episode of India’s Got Latent, which featured a guest judge’s inappropriate remark. The show was taken down from YouTube in February, and legal cases followed.

He described the period of legal cases as “the most testing time of my life”—a sentiment he says inspires his new show.

Speaking through a black-and-white teaser post, Raina declared his rediscovery of purpose on stage, stating that adversity makes for stronger comedy.While he has hinted at the possible return of India’s Got Latent, he offered no specific timeline.

The tour announcement signals Samay Raina is determined to rebuild trust with audiences and prove that even controversy can fuel creativity.
