Dharamshala: On the 50th anniversary of the legendary Indian film "Sholay", Gold Cinema Dharamshala hosted a special screening of its iconic song “Mehbooba-Mehbooba”, reimagined against a Himalayan backdrop. Despite inclement weather, art and culture enthusiasts from across Kangra district turned up for the event.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa and Central Tibetan Administration Vice-President Dolma Tsering jointly inaugurated the screening at a packed PVR theatre. Senior officials and representatives of various NGOs were also present, underscoring the cultural significance of the occasion, which blended Bollywood nostalgia with local artistic expression.
The music video, conceived by Dharamshala-based filmmaker duo Raman Siddharth and Manju Narayan, features artistes Kalsang Dolma and Tenzin Nyima from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA). It integrates traditional Tibetan instruments, dance forms, and Buddhist visual motifs with the original song’s vibrant energy.
