50 crore for ‘Half Girlfriend, 25 for ‘Hindi Medium'

Mumbai: Riding on the strong buzz around it, the buzz created by the Arjun–Shraddha chemistry and the strong performances by the lead cast, Mohit Suri’s ‘Half Girlfriend’ has earned nearly Rs 50 crore at the box office in India in its first week. The Irrfan Khan-starrer ‘Hindi Medium’, the other release of last week, has also done above average business, earning Rs 25.22 crore in its first week, trade sources said.
After earnings of Rs 30 crore in its opening weekend, ‘Half Girlfriend’ continued its strong run in the weekdays as well, taking its collections at the end of the opening week to Rs 49.19 crore. The Irrafan Khan-starrer, which has earned a lot of critical acclaim for its innovative storyline, collected RS 25.21 crore at the Box Office in India in its first week. The film has turned out to be a profitable venture, with its Rs 22 crore budget, out of which 15 crore had already been recovered through satellite, music and other rights. (UNI)
