Tirumala: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’ (TTD) Trust Board, which manages the world-famous richest Tirumala Venkateswara temple, in its meeting on Tuesday, decided to take legal action against the Tamil-language film 'Devil's Double Next Level' (previously known as DD Next Level) for remixing the 'Govinda Namavali'.

The remixing of the 'Govinda Namavali' has hurt the sentiments of the Srivari devotees, said TTD Executive Officer J Syamala Rao after the board meeting held here under the chairmanship of BR Naidu.

'DD Next Level', an Indian Tamil-language action horror comedy film written and directed by S. Prem Anand, was released in theatres on May 16.

Produced by The Show People and Niharika Entertainment, the film stars Santhanam, Selvaraghavan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Geethika Tiwary in the lead roles. It is the fourth instalment in the 'Dhilluku Dhuddu' film series.

In the film, the makers took down the 'Srinivasa Govinda' and 'Govind Govinda' chants from the 'Kissa 47' song after receiving criticism and condemnations for their inclusion in the song.

Earlier, Santhanam and Niharika Entertainments received a defamation notice from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board member and BJP leader Bhanuprakash Reddy, who demanded that the song be taken down or they pay Rs100 crore (US$12 million) in damages.

Furthermore, Kiran Royal, the Janasena Tirupati party in-charge, filed a complaint against the filmmakers with the Tirupati One Town Police Station, claiming that they had offended Hindu feelings and harmed the deity's reputation.
