Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor may no longer be with us, but fans still remember him for his charm and memorable films. Born on September 4, 1952, in Mumbai, he began his journey in cinema as a child artist and went on to win hearts for decades with his unique style and performances.

However, not many know that Rishi Kapoor once went into depression due to the failure of his film Karz. The actor was reportedly under such mental stress that he had to be admitted to a hospital.

Subhash Ghai's revelation

The film's director, Subhash Ghai, revealed this in an interview. He recalled that on the day of Karz's release, he visited a single-screen theatre with his assistant to check the audience response. The film opened with just 20% collections, which was far below expectations.

Despite repeated calls, Rishi Kapoor did not answer Subhash Ghai's phone on Friday and Saturday. By Sunday, the director learned that the actor had fallen into depression and was hospitalized.

Rishi's expectation from Karz

According to Ghai, Rishi Kapoor had worked extremely hard on every scene of the film. Before its release, he even organized preview shows for his close friends, hoping for a positive response. The box-office failure came as a huge setback for him.
