Zubeen’s post-mortem completed in Singapore, Mortal remains to reach Guwahati today

The post-mortem of singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg has been completed in Singapore, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this morning.In a post on X, Sarma informed that Garg’s mortal remains were being handed over to the accompanying team — Shri Shekar Jothi Goswami, Shri Sandeepan Garg, and Shri Siddharth Sharma (Manager) — in the presence of officers from the Indian Embassy.

The Chief Minister had earlier stated that the body would be flown from Singapore to Delhi and then to Guwahati, where it is likely to arrive this evening.He also announced that the Assam Government will organise a mass tribute for the late musician. For this purpose, Garg’s mortal remains will be kept at Sarusojai stadium for a day, allowing the public to pay their respects.

“After that, the family will decide if they want to bring the mortal remains to his home,” said the Chief Minister, after visiting Garg’s residence and meeting his grieving family, including his wife, Garima Saikia Garg.Garg, 52, one of Assam’s most iconic cultural figures, passed away at a hospital in Singapore yesterday afternoon. He was in the city to perform in the North East Festival. (UNI)
