New Delhi: Delhi has reported four new cases of Omicron, taking the total tally of the new strain in the national capital to six, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said here on Tuesday.
The new patients have taken both the doses of vaccines and were showing mild symptoms of the infection. Two of the cases were under home isolation after testing positive for Covid-19 and had no travel history to Omicron-affected countries.
Jain said that all six were stable and have mild to moderate symptoms. One patient has been discharged from the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, the rest of the two cases had recently travelled to South Africa and Zimbabwe, respectively.
Jain further said that no case of community transmission has been reported so far. With these new additions, total cases in the country have reached 53.
The new Covid variant Omicron is said to be "highly transmissible". It has now been reported in six states- Maharashtra (20), Rajasthan (17), Karnataka (3), Gujarat (4), Kerala (1) and Andhra Pradesh (1), besides two Union Territories - Delhi (6) and Chandigarh (1).
Delhi reported its first case of Omicron on December 5, after a 37-year-old was found positive with the variant with mild symptoms. Later, he was discharged from LNJP Hospital after recovering from the infection. (UNI)
